# Classes

Classes are the academic levels used for sections, subjects, fee structures, and student enrollment.

## Step-by-step guide

1. Go to **Academics > Classes**.
2. Select **Add Class**.
3. Enter **Class Name**.
4. Add an optional description.
5. Select **Create**.
6. Use edit or delete actions when a class changes.

## What SmartAcademy does in the background

The backend validates the class name, stores the class under your organization, and records create, update, or delete audit entries.

## Tips

- Create classes before sections and fee structures.
- Avoid deleting classes that already have sections, students, or fee structures unless you are sure they are no longer needed.
