# Transport Routes and Stops

Routes define the path students use for school transport.

## Step-by-step guide

1. Go to **Transportation > Routes & Stops**.
2. Select **Add Route**.
3. Choose a vehicle if applicable.
4. Enter route name.
5. Set status as Active or Inactive.
6. Add notes if needed.
7. Add stops under **Stops and default fee slabs**.
8. For each stop, enter stop name and default fee details.
9. Reorder stops if needed.
10. Select **Save**.

## What SmartAcademy does in the background

The backend stores the route and stops together, keeps stop order, links the vehicle, and records route create or update actions. It blocks deleting a route that has active student transport assignments.

## Tips

- Add stop default fees to speed up student transport assignment.
- End active student assignments before deleting a route.
