# Transport Vehicles

Vehicles are used when creating routes and assigning students to transport.

## Step-by-step guide

1. Go to **Transportation > Vehicles**.
2. Select **Add Vehicle**.
3. Enter **Vehicle Number**.
4. Enter registration number if available.
5. Choose type: Bus, Van, Car, or Other.
6. Enter capacity.
7. Enter driver and attendant details.
8. Set status: Active, Maintenance, or Inactive.
9. Add notes if needed.
10. Select **Save**.

## What SmartAcademy does in the background

The backend validates the vehicle information, stores it under the selected branch and organization, counts linked routes, and records create, update, or delete transport actions.

## Tips

- Keep inactive or maintenance vehicles out of active route planning.
- Add vehicles before assigning them to routes.
