# Create Message Template

To create customized message templates for your WhatsApp Business account, follow these simple steps to ensure your messages effectively engage your audience.

1. **Open Message Templates Screen:**\
   To begin creating a message template, access the Message Templates screen by following these steps:
   * Click on the **Icon Navigation Card** featuring the verified icon on your dashboard.
   * Alternatively, navigate through the **drawer menu** by selecting **WhatsApp Business Account** and then **Message Templates**.
2. **Click on Add Button:**\
   Once you’re on the Message Templates screen, click on the **Add button** located at the bottom right corner.
3. **Choose Template Type:**\
   Select the type of message template you wish to create from the following options:

<summary>Simple</summary>

4.  **Enter Template Name:**

    In the **Add Message Template** screen:

    * Enter the name of your template, ensuring it is between **3-512 characters**,
    * **In lowercase**,
    * **Containing only underscores** (\_) as spaces.

    Once the name is entered, click the **Next button** below the name field.

5.  **Choose Category:**\
    Select the appropriate category for your message template:

    * **Marketing**
    * **Utility**\
      _(Authentication is not supported yet.)_

    After choosing the category, click **Next**.

6. **Choose Language:**\
   Select the **language** for your message template and then click **Next**.

7. **Configure Components:**\
   Customize the components for your simple message template. You can learn more about configuring components [here](configure-simple-message-template-components).

8. **Save Template:**\
   Once you’ve configured your template, click the **save icon** located in the top left, just below the "Add Message Template" heading.

<summary>Carousel</summary>

4. **Choose Carousel Type:**\
   If you selected **Carousel** as the template type, choose one of the following:
   * Media
   * Product
5.  **Enter Template Name:**\
    In the **Add Message Template** screen:

    * Enter the name of your template, ensuring it is between **3-512 characters**,
    * **In lowercase**,
    * **Containing only underscores** (\_) as spaces.

    Once the name is entered, click the **Next button** below the name field.
6.  **Choose Category:**\
    Select the appropriate category for your message template:

    * **Marketing**
    * **Utility**

    After choosing the category, click **Next**.

7. **Choose Language:**\
   Select the **language** for your message template and then click **Next**.

8. **Configure Components:**\

9. **Save Template:**\
   Once you’ve configured your template, click the **save icon** located in the top left, just below the "Add Message Template" heading.
